Our Bread n' Butter Drills

These 4 drills in my opinion can and should be worked on every training session. They are essential in tool sharpening -- these drills will sharpen your 1st step, hand-to-hand combat skills, body lean and balance.

Mr. Miyagi [Wax on, Wax off]

This drill is inspired by the movie 'The Karate Kid'. When Mr. Miyagi told Daniel san to wax the cars in a certain way, the main purpose was to train defending attacks; same concept for us, this drill is an excellent way to prep the hand eye, mind and body connection. Crazy 8's

Every Defensive linemen has both seen this iconic setup a couple of times and/or done this iconic drill a couple of times. There are 4 variations that I like to do (4 Left-handed stance and 4 Right-handed stance). Click the image for a drill example.

Get-offs

THIS is the most important of the bunch, Get Off, Get Off, GET THE F*CK OFF! This isn't a deal breaker for your rush, but let's just say you have approximately 3 seconds to beat the OL and get to the QB standing anywhere from 3 yards to 7 years away from your starting position. Essentially, if you want to be elite the most important part of efforts is how you start. A great get off will only set you up for a great rush/angle of attack! Click the image for a drill example.

Pad Attack

We want to sync our body and mind to the fullest, think of it like a Bluetooth system. Yes technically speaking most of us are hooked up internally via our nervous system, but we must realize these things are typically on Airplane Mode until needed/focused on. It's only then that we can utilize this connection to the fullest, and in order to get that full usage we must sharpen the tool and regularly maintain said sharpness. Reps, Reps, Reps! Click the image for a drill example.
